Oklahoma City native Jabee released the follow up to his Mick-Boogie hosted mix tape “Must Be Nice” yesterday via DJBooth.net and IM KING. (Bone also sang on the “Must Be Nice” track “Live Like A Dream” feat. Mac Lethal.) The new album is called “Lucky Me”, and can be streamed and downloaded for FREE HERE. Bone is featured on the track “Understand” (Produced by Hannibal King).
I don’t know these guys personally, but if good people say they’re good people, I’ll take their word for it. This is a terrible situation these guys are in, and I’m sure anything you all can give would be appreciated.
I’m really sorry to have two posts in a row asking you to give money to somebody, but this one seemed like it was a must to re-post. When we had our van issues, if it wasn’t for fans and friends, we would have ended up in a lot more trouble. (This is a MUCH WORSE situation than we were in.) Do what you can. Give what you can.
We did a show with these guys a while back in Chicago, and they were great. I’ve only heard the first three tracks so far, but if that’s any indication as to why I would post this, I’d say you got a chance to have a really cool record here.
If you dig it in the least, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE donate something to the band. Reward them for the hard work they’ve put into making something that you can enjoy whenever you want.
I’m home! Yes, I’ve been home for a couple of days now, but this was the first day that I went all out on getting stuff together and starting to work on projects I’ll be doing during my time off. You can read all about it at http://www.lennonbone.com
Also, you should note that this sites address is now bonezone.biz. I love that.
Well, it’s over. Our tour with Mr. Rocky Votolato (and Mrs. April Votolato) has come to a bitter sweet end. I felt fortunate to wrap the tour in Lawrence, since being just a stones throw away from Kansas City allowed for a lot of my friends to come out. Jamie and I were able to put Rocky, April and the other Tonka guys up for the night before they headed out to make the trek back to Seattle.
I learned a lot from those two people. From the beginning they allowed me the chance to be a professional at what I do, and I was always treated as such. That’s an invaluable opportunity to be given, and one that in this industry isn’t always at the top of the list. I only hope I lived up to the challenge. For that, many great conversations and much much more, I owe them thanks. They reminded me what it’s like to have beliefs in something greater…and are proof (as I’m reminded by so many others as well) that people are just good. They’re not bad poker players as well. :)
The above video is Rocky and I at the Bottle Tree in Birmingham, AL. Honestly, that was one of the first shows where I felt we were consistently playing together. You musician types will know what I mean by that statement. It’s a feeling thing… and to think that I even thought we got there when we started the tour with no rehearsals is pretty awesome.
Below is a piece of a review from the Riverfront Times in STL. Very kind words, and a great set of compliments to wrap everything up. I feel honored to have had this experience, and hope that it only leads to more.
If you don’t know Rocky’s music, you must get it. Might I suggest you start with “Makers”? Too late… I already suggested it. Enjoy. :)
“…Votolato enlisted Lennon Bone to sit in on drums. The addition definitely complimented Votolato’s sound. With Votolato’s impeccable guitar chops and harmonica prowess matched by Bone’s swaying backbeat and vocals, the duo easily carried the work of three or four musicians…” - Michael Dauphin :: Riverfront Times :: St. Louis, MO
Rocky and April stayed with us last night before they took off today to head back home after what I felt was a blast of a tour. They of course got to meet the infamous Frank. He took a liking to them immediately…
